Pulse Sports, a Ringier Sports Media Group (RSMG) portfolio brand, today announced the launch of its website, pulsesports.ug, in Uganda. The platform will give sports fans in Uganda access to a state-of- the-art digital product, featuring news, commentary, analysis, interviews, statistics, live results, and videos covering both Ugandan and international sports.
Beyond football, Pulsesports.ug will include news and features on all popular sports, including motorsports, basketball, rugby, athletics, boxing, volleyball and more. The website’s editorial team will be led by renowned Ugandan sports journalist and on-air personality Clive Kyazze, and the company has also recruited some of Uganda’s leading sports journalists to join the team, from renowned media outlets such as the Daily Monitor, Kawowo Sports, and NBS television.
The Pulse Sports website is built upon the internationally leading sports media content management system Sportal365 developed by Sportal Media Group as part of RSMG, and features a media-rich interface designed to raise the bar for online sports news in Uganda. It includes high-quality photos and videos, and live scores and tables for the Ugandan Premier League and all major international football leagues. Pulse Sports ambition is to become the leading online sports media platform in Uganda.
James Torvaney, CEO of Pulse Sports Africa, explained: “Ugandans are some of the most passionate sports fans on the African continent, and with the launch of Pulse Sports Uganda we want to give them the same top quality standard of sports coverage that they could expect from media houses anywhere else in the world. We want to ensure that we build a platform that is tailored specifically for these fans – our strategy is built around providing top quality coverage of all Ugandan teams and athletes, championing domestic and grassroots sports, and covering international sports from a uniquely Ugandan angle.”
RSMG, which also includes 8 further sports media platforms across Europe, is significantly expanding its presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the ambition to build a leading sports media platform on the continent.
